Service Improvement

Restaurant reservation

Current restaurant reservation systems often struggle with issues that hinder users' ability to effortlessly plan and personalize their dining experiences.

How to ensure reliability in the reservation platform ?

This project aims to revolutionize the dining reservation experience by addressing key user frustrations and enhancing the interaction between customers and restaurant reservation platforms.

The project places a strong emphasis on building trust and reliability in the reservation system through clear communication channels, transparent policies, and responsive customer support.

We want to give the students a space which contributes and encourages their growth. A space where they can feel enchanted and be themselves.

ABOUT PROJECT

The project aimed to revamp a restaurant reservation app to enhance user satisfaction and engagement. Focused on improving the interface and functionality based on user-centered design principles, the project involved extensive research into user behaviors, preferences, and pain points. Through iterative design and testing, the project sought to create a seamless, intuitive, and flexible reservation experience that accommodates diverse user needs, including those with specific dietary restrictions.

  • The responsibilities undertaken in this project included conducting detailed user research to gather insights into the preferences and behaviors of diverse demographic groups as they interact with technology in the context of restaurant reservations. I led the effort to redesign the user interface and user experience to make the reservation process more accessible and straightforward. Ensuring that the new features were implemented in alignment with both user needs and strategic business goals.

  • Key learnings from this project highlighted the significance of simplicity and flexibility in the user interface to enhance user satisfaction and retention. Balancing user demands for detailed information and customization with the need for a clean and straightforward interface emerged as a crucial design insight.

  • Strategic trade-offs included prioritizing the simplification of the user interface, which involved reducing the number of steps required to make a reservation. This decision, while streamlining user interactions, potentially reduced immediate customization options available to users. The focus was placed on integrating essential features such as dietary customizations in the initial release, deferring some advanced functionalities like AI-driven recommendations to later updates.

  • To address challenges, the project developed methods to incorporate comprehensive dietary restrictions smoothly within the app’s interface, such as through customizable filters and personalized profile suggestions. A feedback mechanism was implemented to make real-time adjustments based on user interactions, significantly refining the system rapidly.

  • Looking ahead, there are opportunities to integrate machine learning to analyze user preferences for personalized restaurant recommendations, which could further refine user experience. Expanding partnerships with culinary experts and dieticians to offer authenticated dietary content could enhance the app’s utility for users with specific dietary needs.

Affinity mapping

The above post-its were reviewed and discussed to start grouping them based on common themes or related ideas. Each cluster was then summarized on a blue post-it note, representing the second level of affinitization. These blue notes allowed us to identify emerging patterns and broader categories within the raw data.

The findings were consolidated by grouping the orange post-its into final themes and insights, using brown post-its for this highest level of categorization. These brown notes represented the core themes that informed the design direction for the restaurant reservation service.

The gathered raw data from various sources including user interviews, surveys, and observational studies was written on these post-it notes. This initial collection captured individual thoughts, needs, and observations about the restaurant reservation. These are the individual data points

The categories were further refined by identifying sub-themes within each broader theme. This involved analyzing the blue post-its to uncover more specific aspects of each category. Orange post-its were used to summarize these sub-themes, providing a more detailed understanding of each major theme.
